Dr. Evan W. Newell is an Associate Member at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division. He is a co-founder and Scientific Advisor at immunoSCAPE.

Dr. Newell has serves as a Senior Editor for the Cancer Immunology Research Journal; an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Immunology and Frontiers in Oncology, Cancer Immunity and Immunotherapy; and a Review Editor for Frontiers in Immunology, NK and Innate Lymphoid Cell Biology. In addition, he has been a primary contributor to over 100 related publications.

From 2014 to 2018, Dr. Newell has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Advanced Immunology at both the National University of Singapore and at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He served as the Principal Investigator at the Singapore Immunology Network, Agency for Science Technology and Research from 2012 to 2016, and the Senior Principal Investigator at that institution from 2016 to 2018.  In 2018, he moved his lab to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA, where he is an Associate Member of the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division, an adjunct associate member of the Computational Biology Program within the Public Health Sciences Division and a member of the Immuonotherapy, Pathogen Associated Malignancies and Translational Data Science Integrated Research Centers at Fred Hutch.

Dr. Newell received his B.Sc. in Honours Immunology with a minor in Neuroscience from McGill University in Canada in 2000, and his Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Toronto in 2006. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Mark M. Davis in the Stanford University Department of Microbiology and Immunology from 2006 to 2011, then a Research Associate in Dr. Davis’ laboratory from 2011 to 2012.
