Neogene Therapeutics is a pre-clinical stage biotechnology company aiming to change the paradigm of treatment for solid cancers. Our mission is to provide cancer patients with T cell therapies targeting mutated proteins called neo-antigens, which are present on cancer cells as a consequence of DNA mutations. Neogene is developing novel technologies to enable the engineering of ‘designer T cells’ with neo-antigen specificities that display an optimized ability to seek and destroy cancer cells.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Scientist, with strong expertise in flow cytometry, to join the Translational Sciences team at Neogene Santa Monica. The successful candidate will be involved in flow cytometry assay development, product characterization and analysis of patient biospecimens as well as flow cytometry core maintenance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for daily instrument maintenance, optimization and operation of flow analyzers and sorters.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs related to flow cytometry instrument operation.
  • Develop, optimize and qualify, flow assays for characterization of human biospecimens.
  • Support flow-based clinical biospecimen characterization, data analysis and reporting of results in the form of presentations or written reports.
  • Provide documentation to support regulatory filings, assist in SOP writing and standardization of laboratory methods and procedures.
  • Presentation of results to individuals from a variety of levels and functions.
  • Establish a cross-functional working relationship with analytical sciences and quality teams and participate in method tech-transfer activities.
  • Assist in other duties as required, including but not limited to non-flow cytometry-based assay development, execution of experiments and reporting results.


  • PhD +3 years of relevant academic or industry experience. Immunology background preferred. Hands-on experience working with T cells.
  • Strong background in immune cell-based assay development and execution, with additional experience in cell culture, ELISA/MSD, and qPCR/ddPCR desirable.
  • Prior experience working in or managing a flow cytometry core facility highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience in performing multi-parameter flow cytometry (+10 colors) and fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS).
  • Experienced analyzing human biospecimens to inform clinical trials or identification of biomarkers.
  • Able to independently perform data analysis using basic software, such as FlowJo and GraphPad Prism.
  • Background in immunology and/or cancer immunotherapy.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented with high organizational skills. Self-motivated and technically driven.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly fluid company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
