Neogene Therapeutics is a pre-clinical stage biotechnology company aiming to change the paradigm of treatment for solid cancers. Our mission is to provide cancer patients with T cell therapies targeting mutated proteins called neo-antigens, which are present on cancer cells as a consequence of DNA mutations. Neogene is developing novel technologies to enable the engineering of ‘designer T cells’ with neo-antigen specificities that display an optimized ability to seek and destroy cancer cells.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our personalized TCR discovery team in Amsterdam as a Senior Scientist – Molecular Biology and NGS. The personalized TCR discovery team is responsible for isolating neo-antigen specific TCRs from a cancer patient’s tumor biopsy & characterizing these tumor-derived TCRs. Following isolation and characterization, neo-antigen specific TCRs are selected for the clinical manufacture of a fully personalized multi-specificity neo-antigen specific TCR engineered T cell therapy product that is used to treat the cancer patient. Reporting to the Head of the personalized TCR discovery team, the individual will assume responsibility for supervising a team of scientists and research associates performing experiments to isolate and characterize patient-derived neo-antigen specific TCRs for clinical use.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Supervise a team of research associates performing experiments to isolate patient-derived neo-antigen specific TCRs in a manner compliant with standards set out by relevant accredited agencies.
Drafting data reports and presentations to inform the selection of personalized TCRs for clinical use.
Serve as a subject matter expert for methods utilized for TCR discovery (e.g. molecular biology techniques, NGS technologies) & collaborate with the research team to support the identification, validation and implementation of process step improvements.
Drafting and reviewing of protocols, SOPs, batch records, technical reports and regulatory documents to support clinical development
Playing a key role in an integrated cross-functional team
Mentor and develop more junior staff
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

PhD with at least 3 year of relevant work experience in Molecular Biology and using NGS technologies. Experience of or an affinity for working in a GLP or GMP environment. Industry experience is a plus. Candidates with relevant experience may be eligible for a position as a Principal Scientist (at the company’s discretion).
Deep knowledge and experience with molecular biology techniques and next generation sequencing technologies (e.g. Illumina and ONT platforms)
Candidates with experience of or an affinity for T cell Immunology and/or genetic screening approaches is a strong plus.
Preference for candidate with experience of drafting and reviewing documentation to support clinical development
Preference for candidates with experience of working within a formal quality management system.
Experience of working in a cGMP or ISO 13485 production environment is a plus
Excellent organizational skills, with a preference for a candidate with experience of supervising more junior research staff
Comfortable with electronic document management systems and authoring tools
A strong sense of urgency with regards to work duties and the ability to deliver results based on challenging timelines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate results to a diverse cross-functional audience.
Comfortable in a fast-paced growing company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
