(Senior) Research Associate – Molecular Biology and NGS, Personalized TCR selection Team

Neogene Therapeutics is a pre-clinical stage biotechnology company aiming to change the paradigm of treatment for solid cancers. Our mission is to provide cancer patients with T cell therapies targeting mutated proteins called neo-antigens, which are present on cancer cells as a consequence of DNA mutations. Neogene is developing novel technologies to enable the engineering of ‘designer T cells’ with neo-antigen specificities that display an optimized ability to seek and destroy cancer cells.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our personalized TCR Selection Team in Amsterdam as a (Senior) Research Associate – Molecular Biology and NGS. The personalized TCR Selection Team is responsible for applying Neogene Proprietary  TCR selection platform, developed by our R&D team for the purpose of isolating neo-antigen specific TCRs from a cancer patient’s tumor biopsy & characterizing these tumor-derived TCRs. This process takes place in our personalized TCR Selection Facility under the principles of GLP. Following isolation and characterization, neo-antigen specific TCRs are selected for the clinical manufacture of a fully personalized multi-specificity neo-antigen specific TCR engineered T cell therapy product that is used to treat the patient. Reporting to a Senior Scientist in the personalized TCR selection team, the individual will assume responsibility for performing the process steps to isolate and characterize patient-derived neo-antigen specific TCRs for clinical use.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing laboratory processes to isolate patient-derived neo-antigen specific TCRs in a manner compliant with standards set out by relevant accredited agencies.
  • Perform methods for TCR selection. Involved techniques include DNA/RNA isolation, DNA/RNA quality assessment, molecular biology and cloning techniques, Illumina sequencing, Oxford Nanopore sequencing, lab automation and equipment management.
  • Execute sequencing large number of samples on a routine schedule
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional team to identify, validate and implement process improvements.
  • Support and collaboration with multiple teams to identify, validate and implement process improvements.
  • Document results in electronic laboratory journal and document management systems that are in compliance with standards set by appropriate accredited agencies.
  • Strong analytical and judgement skills, diligent and systematic working attitude, independent thinking and open to challenges.

  • 2+ years (Research Associate) or 4+ years (Senior Research Associate) of full-time laboratory experience, preferably in a regulated laboratory environment (CLIA, GLP, GCP, IVD).
  • Candidates with relevant experience may be eligible for a position as Scientist (at the company’s discretion). Industry experience is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with DNA library preparation.
  • Next generation sequencing and quality control assay development experience is preferred. Skillset including nucleic acid extraction, quantitation, fragmentation, PCR, and next generation sequencing.Knowledge of and experience with molecular biology techniques, next generation sequencing technologies and lab automation (e.g. Illumina, ONT, Qiagen, Tecan, Agilent platforms)
  • Experience in the area of T cell Immunology and/or genetic screening approaches is a strong plus.
  • Preference for candidates with experience of working within a formal quality management system.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, the ability to diligently execute experimental protocols and deliver results based on challenging timelines.
