Neogene Therapeutics is a pre-clinical stage biotechnology company aiming to change the paradigm of treatment for solid cancers. Our mission is to provide cancer patients with T cell therapies targeting mutated proteins called neo-antigens, which are present on cancer cells as a consequence of DNA mutations. In a process that is minimally invasive for the patient, Neogene is developing novel technologies to enable the engineering of ‘designer T cells’ with neo-antigen specificities that display an optimized ability to seek and destroy cancer cells.

For our research facility located in Amsterdam, we are seeking a highly motivated individual to support our research as a Bio-informatician. The individual will report to our Senior Scientist, Genetic Screening/Bioinformatics and assume responsibilities with regards to tool development and data analysis related to our aim of developing neo-antigen based therapies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the R&D team to support the design and analysis of experimental research aiming to develop novel technology to enable neo-antigen based T cell therapies. This specifically includes hands-on data analysis.
  • Development of custom analysis pipelines, in particular with regards to data derived from next-generation sequencing platforms.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert to the R&D team with regards to any aspect of bioinformatic data analysis.
  • Collaborate with outside third parties providing bioinformatic services and consultancy to the company.
  • Contribute to maintenance and scale-up of the company’s IT infrastructure.
  • Documentation of results in laboratory journals and related databases.
  • Presentation of obtained results in internal work-discussions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Bioinformatics. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics and 2 years of relevant working experience in an academic or industrial position are also invited to apply.
  • Expert knowledge in either R or Python is required. Competencies in additional scripting languages are a plus.
  • Familiarity with working in a Linux environment.
  • Experience in sequence data analysis obtained by common next-generation sequencing platforms (Illumina, Pacific Bio and Oxford Nanopore) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong interest to apply bioinformatic tools to solve biological and biotechnological challenges.
  • Excellent organizational skills, a strong sense of urgency with regards to work duties and the ability to deliver results based on challenging timelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. We are seeking a self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in The Netherlands.

We offer the opportunity to join a highly dynamic biotech start-up. You can expect a collaborative environment created by a team with deep scientific expertise and an industrial track-record in T cell therapies. We value pro-active team-players who pursue their goals with dedication, endurance and a daring mindset. If you share our commitment to make a difference to patients in need, we can provide an exciting opportunity for your career.
