(Senior) Scientist Synthetic TCR Libraries


Neogene Therapeutics is a pre-clinical stage biotechnology company aiming to change the paradigm of treatment for solid cancers. Our mission is to provide cancer patients with T cell therapies targeting mutated proteins called neo-antigens, which are present on cancer cells as a consequence of DNA mutations. Neogene is developing novel technologies to enable the engineering of ‘designer T cells’ with neo-antigen specificities that display an optimized ability to seek and destroy cancer cells.

For our R&D department in Amsterdam, we are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our T cell engineering research team as a (Senior) Scientist. The individual will design synthetic TCR libraries to discover novel TCR candidates against recurrent viral and neo-antigens in the field of oncology, and use these TCRs to develop personalized T cell therapies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing and performing experimental studies in the area of T cell Immunology, with a strong focus on the identification and genetic engineering of TCR genes to create personalized T cell therapies for cancer.
  • Driving innovation of Neogene’s pipeline, thereby paving the way for the next generation of T cell therapies.
  • Collaborating with the broader R&D team and supervising research associates and internship students.
  • Presenting obtained results in internal work discussions.
  • Keeping up to date with scientific literature, and proactively seeking out and reporting on relevant developments in the field.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with outside parties to expand Neogene’s research capabilities.
  • Documenting experimental results in electronic laboratory journal and databases.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences or a related field. Candidates with at least 5 years of relevant experience post PhD may be eligible for a position as Senior Scientist (at the company’s discretion).
  • A proven track-record in the field of T cell Immunology with seminal scientific contributions as exemplified by high-impact publications, patent applications, fellowships/grants and awards.
  • First-hand experience with primary immune cell culture, viral and/or non-viral genetic engineering (e.g. CRISPR), and multi-color flow cytometry is essential.
  • Additional training in the area of TCR or antibody phage display, genetic screening (vector design/construction and next-generation sequencing), and flow cytometry-based cell sorting is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills, a strong sense of urgency with regards to work duties and the ability to deliver results based on challenging timelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
